Recording damage to multiple parts in the calculator
Parking damage or scrape damage often affects more than one part. If only one part is selected in the calculator, the calculated price will be too low. This guide explains how to photograph and enter multiple panels correctly.
Show how the damage continues along the car.
Photograph every affected part separately.
A damaged door, wing and bumper are three separate parts.
- Repair and refinishing are often calculated per part.
- Long scratches can affect multiple panels.
- Combined work can create efficiency when everything is repaired together.
- Omitted panels create a calculation that is too low.
1Start with the damage path
First take a photo from a distance showing the full side, front or rear. This shows Pres whether the damage is in one location or continues across several parts.
Then take a separate photo for each damaged part, so the calculator can build the overview per panel.
2Multiple parts do not always mean double work
If two adjacent panels need refinishing, there may be combined work. The calculator can include this better when all parts are selected. Entering one panel while three are damaged makes the result less reliable.
Complete input does not automatically make everything unnecessarily expensive. It creates a more realistic overview.
3Avoid discussion afterwards
Most price differences do not arise because the calculator calculates badly, but because visible damage was not fully entered. A complete photo set avoids extra questions.
This speeds up review and makes the calculated price more useful for planning or insurance comparison.
| Damage pattern | Choose in calculator | Photos |
|---|---|---|
| Scratch over two doors | Both doors | Overview plus one photo per door. |
| Bumper and wing hit | Bumper and wing | Full corner and detail per part. |
| Damage continues to rear quarter | Door, sill or rear quarter if affected | Full side visible. |
The calculator is strongest when visible damage is entered completely and accurately. The largest differences arise when damage is not selected, classified too lightly or only becomes visible after dismantling.
