How does the wrong damage selection affect the calculated price?
The Pres calculator calculates from what the customer enters. That makes the result fast and concrete, but also dependent on the selected damage category. If a large dent is entered as minor paint damage, the calculated price will logically be too low. This guide explains which choices matter most.

1Why the selection is so important
The calculator is built around damaged parts and repair routes. A bumper that only needs refinishing is very different from a bumper with cracked plastic, broken clips or sensor damage. The calculation can process this well when the right option is selected.
With complete and correct input, the calculated price is on average about 90% aligned with the final repair price. Accuracy drops mainly when the input does not match the actual damage.
Scratch or paint damage: mainly preparation and refinishing.
Dent with paint damage: panel work, shaping and refinishing.
Crack or break: often plastic repair or replacement.
2A practical example
A customer selects “minor paint damage” on the front bumper, but the photo shows the bumper edge is open and the mounting point is loose. The calculator then prices paint work, but not automatically mounting inspection or possible replacement clips.
The price changes not because the calculator calculates badly, but because the damage was not fully entered. Photos help Pres identify this before a final appointment is made.
3How to select better
Select every damaged part separately rather than one general damage point. Choose the damage level that best matches what you can see. If you are unsure between small and medium, choose the option closest to the visible work and upload clear photos.
Complete input is more reliable than input that is too low. A specialist can scale down more easily than guess omitted damage.
Select adjacent parts if they are also affected.
Do not enter cracks, loose parts or broken brackets as scratches only.
Use both overview and close-up photos.
